Triple Filter Test !

Welcome to 110th Monday Musings:

In ancient Greece , Socrates (469 - 399 BC) was widely lauded for his wisdom.

One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, " Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students? "

" Wait a moment ", Socrates replied, " Before you tell me I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."

" Triple Filter ? "

" That's right ", Socrates continued, " Before you talk to me about my student, let's take a moment to filter what you're going to say.

The first filter is Truth.

Are you absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true? "

" No ", the man said, " Actually I just heard about it and..."

" Alright ", said Socrates, " So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter –

The filter of Goodness.

Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good ? "

" No, on the contrary...."

" So ", Socrates continued, " You want to tell me something bad about him, even though you're not certain if it's true ? "

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed.

Socrates continued, " You may still pass the test though, because there is a third filter –

The filter of Usefulness.

Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me ? "

" No, not  really..."

" Well ", concluded Socrates, " If what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all ? "

The man was defeated and ashamed.

This is the reason why Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

Moral of the story :

1.    Always speak only if it is Truth
2.    Speak only if something is for goodness
3.    Talk if something is Useful

Or Else it will be wastage of Time & Energy. Imagine how different the world would be if we only chose to seek or create information that was true, good, or useful.

Next time someone starts to spread gossip, think of this !

Make it a great Week !

Love and Ego !

Welcome to 109th Monday Musings:

Once upon a time there was an island, where all the feelings lived

One day there was a storm in the sea and the island was about to get drowned.

Every feeling was scared,  Love was not scared and Love made a boat to escape .

Every feeling boarded the boat,  Only 1 feeling was left.

Love got down to see who it was..

It was EGO.

Love tried and tried but ego wasn't moving also.

the water was rising..

Every one asked love to leave him and come in the boat,

but love was made to love.

At last all the feelings escape and Love dies with ego on the island..

Love Dies because of EGO !

Moral of the story :

Never let your love die because of your EGO

Argument wins the situations but loses the person.
So when argue with your loved ones,
remember that situations is never more important than your loved ones.....

The Stuck Truck - Creativity makes anything Possible !

Welcome to 108th Monday Musings:

There was an accident - a big truck got stuck under a bridge in the middle of a road.

It was trying to pass through the bridge, but a few inches got it complete stuck.

Firemen and policemen came to the scene of the accident.

They brought heavy equipment and tried pulling the truck out. No success.

Along comes a little boy and asks one of the policemen what is happening.

The policeman explained that the truck got stuck and that they trying to pull it out, but nothing is working.

The little boy stepped in to have a better look and after a few moments said "Why don’t you take the air out of the tires?"

The policeman was stunned at the suggestion.

A group of grown men couldn’t figure out something that a little boy found naturally in a few minutes.

The story goes that the policeman run to his team and they were able to pull the truck out within the next few minutes.

Moral of the story :

Such is the power of natural creativity. When we are born, we have pure minds where anything is possible.

As we grow older, We accumulate so much mental baggage of  things we can do and of things we cannot do, eventually we create a mental block.

"Don’t let mental blocks control you. Set yourself free. Confront your fear and turn the mental blocks into building blocks."

Remember: Sometimes a block comes from having too much, not too little.

The Dog in the Well !

Welcome to 107th Monday Musings:

In old times, there was a village having only one well for drinking water.

One day a dog fell down in the well and died. The water became filthy and undrinkable

The worried villagers went to the old wise man for advice.

They were told to take 100 buckets of water from the well so that clean water come to the surface of the well.

The villagers took 100 buckets but water status was same.

They went to the wise man again. He suggested to take another 100 buckets.

The villagers did the same but to no avail. They villagers tried third time to take another 100 buckets as per the advice from the wise man but water was still impure.

The wise said, How come the whole well is polluted even removing this much considerable amount of water. Did you remove the dog body prior to taking 300 buckets of water?

The villagers said, "no sir, you only advised us to take water out, not the dog body !!!"

Moral of the story :

Several times in life we try to resolve our problems without considering the root cause of the problems.

We believe that we are resolving the problem whereas in actual we are working on the side effects of problem not the problem itself. We don't see the big picture to understand the root of the issue.  We take advice from our well-wishers but do not use our brain to think logically to analyze the advice and then decide, instead, we start acting blindly on the solutions suggested by others.

Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.

Remember:

Make it a great Week !

The Christmas Dream !

Welcome to 106th Monday Musings:

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Sara.
Every Christmas she had a special dreams but this one was the best!  She dreamt that she could write to Santa Clause!
She tried to write a letter and posted it in the post box. But somehow she doubted it is true because she knew there was no address she had just written “to dear Santa”.
The next day, she received a letter from Santa Clause himself! She first thought it was some kind of joke that has been played by some prankster but when she opened it she was surprised. It said:-
Dear Sara,
We are very much indeed pleased by your letter. So we will grant you a boon that every year you can write a letter regarding your wishes. We won’t object if it is for your benefit or the others.
Yours,
SANTA

She could not believe her eyes. She read the letter over and over again and then she was convinced that it was not a prank.
Every year on Christmas she made thousands of people happy with the help of her boon.
One week before Christmas she broke her arm. The doctor said that it was critical and that she could not use her fractured hand for any work! This was indeed a bad news. She would miss her letter this year!
On the day of Christmas she cried in her room, she thought she could make others happier this Christmas.
There was another choice though but she did not want to use it. The option was that she could make others write the letter only if the letter was a wish for Sara herself onlyBut if it was the sake of others then Sara could not make others write it for her.
Suddenly a fairy appeared in front of her and said “dear Sara you are so kind in this vicious world. You don’t want to use the boon for yourself. You would rather use the boon for others than yourself. So we have decided to give you a lifetime boon which means you can make a wish a last wish which will last your entire lifetime and when you pass away then the boon will go away too. Make the wish my girl
“my wish is that I want each and every person on earth to have a very good Christmas every year”
“you are very kind my girl. You are ready to help this vicious world. But if it is what you want then let it be granted. Bye Sara, I hope you prosper in life.”
With this she disappeared in a flash. Sara left a sigh of relief. She lived happily ever after with a smile always present in her life.
Moral of the story :
Never be selfish or you will not prosper.

Merry Christmas & Make it a great Week!

What Other People Think Of You Is None Of Your Business !

Welcome to 105th Monday Musings:

A couple bought a donkey from the market.

On the way home, A boy commented: “Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on the donkey?

Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them.

Later, an old man saw it and commented: “The husband is the head of the family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?

Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented: “How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman.

The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey.

Then, they met a young man. He commented: “Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you.

Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders. It seems to be the only choice left.

Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river.

And This is our society

You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.

Moral of the story :

Do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clearThe important part is conscience should be clear. The moral of story is not limited to a incident, if we apply it to our life we can live a very peaceful life, more the times in our life we keep on thinking what other people will think without using conscience, We must understand that What Other People Think Of us Is None Of Our Business !

·       Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner.

·       The moment that you start caring what other people think about you is the moment that you stop being yourself. you're awesome as what you are right now. Live happy  and do what your conscience says is right.

Stay Away from Negative people !

Welcome to 104th Monday Musings:

A woman was at her hairdresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband.

She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded: "Rome ?  Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there ?”

“We're taking Continental," was the reply. "We got a great rate!"

"Continental?" exclaimed the hairdresser. "That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome ?"

"We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome's Tiber River called Teste." "Don't go any further. I know that place.

Everybody thinks its goanna be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump, the worst hotel in the city! The rooms are small, the service is surly, and they're overpriced.

So, whatcha' doing when you get there ?"

"We're going to go to see the Vatican and we hope to see the Pope."

"That's rich," laughed the hairdresser. "You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant.

Good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it."

A month later !

The woman again came in for a hairdo.

The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome.

"It was wonderful," explained the woman, "not only were we on time in one of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked and they bumped us up to first class.

The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot. And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $5 million remodeling job and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city.

They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's suite at no extra charge !"

"Well," muttered the hairdresser,

"that's all well and good, but I know you didn't get to see the Pope."

"Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me.

Sure enough five minutes later, the Pope walked in and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me."

"Oh, really! What'd he say?"

He said: "Where'd you get the awful hairdo?

Moral of the story :

This is something to think about when negative people are doing their best to rain on your parade.

Recall this story the next time, when someone who knows nothing and cares less, tries to make your life miserable.

The most important part, Stay away from negative people because

You cannot expect to live a positive life if you hang with negative people. Always remember

Life is short, don't waste it with negative people who don't appreciate you. Keep them in your HEART, but keep them out of your LIFE.

Make it a great Week !
